The Junker's Journal is the heart of Carter's American Junk. It's my first online journal filled and updated (often I hope) with personal junk musings, new junk places I have visited or heard about, treasures discovered, and any inspiration that I have run across. In the future I look forward to making it interactive, but until then I hope you will take the opportunity to respond to what you see and read by emailing me. I look forward to featuring your thoughts, suggestions and stuff in this digital diary and in Junk Mail. |

Dancing Mama!!! September 20, 2008
It was almost a year ago that I shared with you that my son Carter was getting married (see entry below!).
The wedding took place about a month ago at Elm Glen Farm on the most spectacular Fall day! To the right you can get a glimpse of the fun we had (that's me in the yellow vest and Carter and Kasia in the circle!) Now that the wedding is over, I can devote more time to junking and share with you some of my journeys. For those of you who have come here via Todd Selby's little story on my office space (Thanks, Todd!) at The Selby,(www.theselby.com) you might want to scroll back to some of my junk journey's of the past! For those of you who are old timers, please check out The Selby! Todd is definitely a kindred spirit!

Happy New Year 2008
It is a new year and I have just returned from a week with my wonderful family in Virginia and the old house and all the old things, and memories that I love and they have revived me. And the most exciting news is that my older son Carter is engaged to the most wonderful woman named Kasia and so love spins us on into a world that is made not of things, but of feelings. What a way to start the New Year! I am sitting at my cluttered desk surrounded by all my little pieces of junk and photographs of the people that are with me and within me and make sense of everything that is puzzling. And please, if you get a chance get a copy of a wonderful book called The Principles of Uncertainty by Maira Kalman. And yes, may this year be filled with wonderful wonderful junk abandoned and reclaimed by all of us crazy junkers searching for the next amazing thing just around the corner. Happy New Year to each of you!
