The Junker's Journal is the heart of Carter's American Junk. It's my first online journal filled and updated (often I hope) with personal junk musings, new junk places I have visited or heard about, treasures discovered, and any inspiration that I have run across. In the future I look forward to making it interactive, but until then I hope you will take the opportunity to respond to what you see and read by emailing me. Saturday, December 3, 2011: A Visit with Thomas Fougeirol
It was the hottest day of last summer when I finally made my way to the magical studio of my friend Thomas. I had once visited his wife Nathalie Lete's studio in Paris, but missed his. Luckily Thomas has a studio outside of NYC and comes to work several times a year. My son Carter and I stopped in for a visit and to admire close-up in his staggering collection.

Saturday, March 12, 2011: What to do?
If you have ever toyed with demolition, think again! We just took the ceiling down in our old kitchen and it's Hellish! The old ceiling stopped just below the window up over my head. Now we have all this amazing space and light! So even though it's not fun to live through the endless dust and camping out, I know the end result will be truly Heavenly! Stay tuned!

Went to her new exhibit--Various Illunimations (of a Crazy World) -- at The Jewish Museum @ 92nd & Madison, NYC, for a few months. I have always loved her work beginning with her illustrations for the classic Elements of Style! Go to her website mairakalman.com to explore her incredible world.
